Trump in It To Lose?

My doctor had my pump give me a burst—a bolus—this morning and the results were not great. I spent an hour in the shower dropping things and fumbling things and cutting myself shaving (yes, I shave in the shower). It was a comedy of pathos, you might say. I won’t go into further post-shower details—which weren’t great either. I just hope my doctor can use this intelligence.

Anyhoo, during my bathing escapades, I made time for some work-related thinking. And I had these thoughts. Now, yes, I thought about Trump in the shower. I am as disgusted with this as you probably are. However, I did it in the shower, so there was no need for … y’know, a shower.

I tinkered with the following notion: perhaps Trump is fine with not winning this election. Commentators all over the news media have remarked about him “melting down,” and about his campaign seeming directionless, and so on. The Republican Party is not happy—with him or his VP choice. So, this set me to thinking. He’s doing far fewer rallies these days. When he does do something—like the Mar-a-Lago press conference or the Elon Musk interview—he just lies and insults people and doesn’t even seem to be trying. Yes, lies and insults and incoherent rambling are his brand, but this feels different.

New polling data seems to get posted about every 48 hours, and the data does not bode well for the Trump campaign. Harris is up in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin; she’s even gaining ground in Florida of all places. Trump’s campaign is a leaky, rudderless ship, and all he can do is mumble about Tic Tacs? Gentle reader, this is a candidate throwing in the towel.

You see, he can lose and then blame the Democratic Party, Harris, Obama, and the assassination attempt that maybe gave him PTSD. And then his cult can cause civil unrest because the Democrats did their messiah dirty and probably stole the election. He can go out in a blaze of glory and not be burdened with having to be president. Melania will be delighted.

Okay, it’s just a half-baked thought I came up with while dropping things on the floor in the shower. But how else do you explain his behavior? The debate should be interesting.
