Well, after a month in the city—a week in the hospital and three weeks at Shirley Ryan Ability Lab—I am back home and have begun physical therapy here. They continue to dial up my Baclofen pump, so once they hit the sweet spot, I’ll know where I stand.
I mentioned in a previous post that I showed up for surgery at a 5, went down to a 2 post op, and was on my way back up at rehab. I am happy to report I’m back at a 5 and we’re hoping to hit 7. Once again, as the Arabs say, Inshallah.
I would just like to extend a warm thank you to all of you who brought me Taco Bell. I kept a close count, and the complete tally of people who brought me Taco Bell came to, um, zero. Conclusion: you all just racked up 30 minutes in Purgatory. Shameful.
I meant every word I said about nurses and PCTs in that post. The care I received at Shirley Ryan was unbelievable. I miss you all: Joyce, Sherri, Megan, Stefanie, Olivia, Sheila, Queenie, Molly, and my good buddy, Alyssa. You took such good care of me, and I count you among my friends. My eyes are welling up as I type this.
So, from here it’s PT and heading for that 7. Back to work. But I’ll try to post relatable content from time to time—I promise. If I drop that ball, Kate will be furious.
