The Congressional Progressive Caucus is routinely painted as "left." It is not. The way we discuss politics in this country is misleading. There is no legitimate leftist presence in Congress. We really don't have that in this country. Bernie Sanders and AOC constitute the "left." And neither are leftists. In Europe (where they have real healthcare coverage), they would correctly be labeled centrists, if not center-right.

Conservatism
As I mentioned yesterday, data have a funny way of supplying potent commentary. Especially in the light of Sara Palin's recent comments at a conservative conference—"It will be over my dead body that I’ll have to get a shot"—and Donald Trump recently getting booed for telling an audience that he got a Covid booster. I'm left wondering what it means to be a conservative these days. You distrust science. You deny global warming. You don't like brown people. Maybe you think this should be a monarchy or a theocracy. Did I miss anything? When I hear someone tell me they're a Republican, I always scratch my head. Especially if they work for a living. I can see if you're in the millionaire/billionaire class and you don't like brown or low-income people, then I get it. You want your taxes cut and the working class and poor gouged and tossed on an ice floe. But if you work for a living, how do you benefit? What is the GOP providing you? Being a racist won't expand your health coverage. It won't help you as you die from Covid.
