Labor shortage

I have repeatedly heard young people criticized for the current labor shortage. As if everyone got their stimulus checks and decided on an early retirement. At age 23. This of course is absurd, but fits the accepted narrative that Millennials and Generation Z are lazy and worthless.

Boomers are very quick to congratulate themselves on being rugged go-getters, paragons of the society. Of course, then there's their political record to consider. Do we have universal healthcare? No. Well, the Boomers argued against it for decades. "Who's going to pay for it?? " The same people who are going to pay for Iraq and Afghanistan. Never mind that universal healthcare (which the whole developed world enjoys) would save us money. But, I digress.

According to the CNN article:

Last month, there were 3.6 million more Americans who had left the labor force and said they didn't want a job compared with November 2019. A whopping 90% of them were over 55.

So, the data are saying something else. And it usually does. Data are funny that way.
