MAGA Strategies

I found this article fascinating. The GOP is understandably unnerved by the enthusiasm surrounding the Harris-Walz campaign. Its numbers continue to increase, and the media coverage seems to be crowding out Trump-Vance.

So what does the Trump campaign plan to do? It plans to smear Harris and Walz by trying to convince anyone willing to listen that Harris and Walz are a bunch of low-down, no good progressives (gasp)!

I marvel at the fact that the Republican Party exists and has greater than 3 percent national support. It really belongs under a rock.

So, the plan is to blame Harris for all the diseased and blood-thirsty migrants roaming the countryside in rabid packs: randomly killing, taking jobs, and costing you tax money. If a migrant as much as jaywalks, Trumpworld will scream it from the rooftops that it’s Harris’s fault.

Now, gentle reader, read this paragraph:

“With Walz, the strategy for now has been to say he ushered in progressive policies as Minnesota governor, focusing on how he supported transgender medical care for children, approved sweeping climate change legislation and enshrined abortion rights into law.”

Might we bear in mind that public support for same-sex marriage is currently at 67 percent, and support for laws protecting LGBTQ people dropped recently—from 80 to 76 percent? Support for better global warming legislation sits sturdily at two-thirds. And support for a woman’s right to a legal abortion in all or limited circumstances is 64 percent.

When the GOP shoots itself in the foot, it leaves nothing to chance and shoots both of them.

Casting Harris as the “border czar,” and using racist fear of migrants makes a kind of sense within the GOP-verse. Racism and fear are after all their bread and butter. But the Walz strategy is nothing short of comical. From here to November should be interesting. Speaking of fear, the Republicans have cause for much of it.

Okay, that “gentle reader” bit I stole from “Bridgerton.” Fine, I admit it—leave me alone!
