Just returned from the polls (where invariably, the people are warm and friendly, I've noticed).
Given Obama's healthy 15-point lead over Romney in Illinois, I chose to vote for Jill Stein of the Green Party. Were Illinois a swing state, I would have cast my ballot against Romney, Ryan, and their party.
While the Democrats also bear responsibility for the trend of the last thirty years, the GOP has led the charge and have been far more aggressive - and unapologetic - in leading the United States in the direction of Central America instead of Northern Europe.
If Americans are weary of the two-party personality contest, supporting a third option is crucial. As mentioned on this blog in numerous posts, the American population is largely in agreement and sits to the left of the Democrats. Fortunately, we have little in the way of barriers in this country preventing us from imposing our demands.
