Why is it that in the comments section, if someone is going to bend over backwards trying to not understand what I am saying, that person is male almost 100 percent of the time? I traded notes with a friend on this who posts political content on FB—and does so responsibly and clearly (like me)—and he reports the same figure.

And why—as long as we’re on the topic—when I posted a blog essay on the female condition a couple weeks ago (Mar. 19), 100 percent of the comments were by women?

What conclusions might we draw?
