Upcoming film: The Square

The Square, directed by Jehane Noujaim, is a forthcoming documentary looking at the Egyptian protests in Tahrir Square, the removal of Hosni Mubarak, the emergence of Mohamed Morsi, and the subsequent upheaval involving the army and the Muslim Brotherhood. The trailer looks promising. (Noujaim also directed the documentary Control Room, a film I highly recommend.)

For those in Chicago, the film opens Jan. 17 at the Gene Siskel Film Center.
