Peace process

Jamie Stern-Weiner at the New Left Project offers a sound analysis of Secretary John Kerry's recent diplomatic activity on Palestine-Israel. The peace process is generally used to create illusions and regulate tensions in the region and pressures placed on the United States and Israel. Obama knows the playbook well.

Side note: When the possibility of a black US president was quite remote, I can remember hearing (racist white) adults suggest that a black person in the White House would hand the country over to black America. Then, after Obama was elected it was common among "conservatives" to label him some kind of leftwing socialist. The former argument has gone quiet, as best I can tell - though people in the white middle class are more cautious about racist expression than they used to be. (That, and the facts are in.) And the socialist tag, while still alive, seems to be on the decline. I suspect it too will eventually go quiet, also due to the onslaught of facts.

One of the more important aspects of an African American having been elected to the nation's highest office might be in helping many Americans see more clearly how power operates.
