Gideon Levy

Excellent 50-minute feature on Israeli journalist Gideon Levy. The interview segments with Levy alone make the film well worth it. He is a clear, moral thinker, and almost every sentence uttered is quotable and bears long consideration.

I found myself wanting more biographical info on him, but the project doesn't suffer for it.

The Israeli press, especially papers like Haaretz (for which Levy reports), provides far superior coverage of the conflict than that found among American news outlets. It's not that the Israeli papers are really good, it's just that ours are really appalling. American journalists fear the "anti-Israel" label, so in many instances one is better off reading Israeli journalists. Levy of course receives his fair share of accusations as well; but this doesn't stop him. And it helps having a newspaper that will back you regardless.
