A good find by Mondoweiss: Travel guru Rick Steves produced an accurate and principled opinion piece in the Huffington Post concerning Israel and Palestine. He also suggests a documentary that I have recommended for years.
This is another case of a celebrity doing the right thing (see blog entries from Jan. 26, 2012, and Mar. 12, 2011 ). Moreover, the Steves piece is further evidence that honest, accurate discourse about Israel is entering the mainstream. I remember not so long ago when people got taken to task for merely using the word "occupation"; a decade or so ago that was considered "leftist" rhetoric.
But as people get educated on the matter, two things happen: they think and speak more precisely, and draw the appropriate conclusion that Israel's occupation is wrong and harmful to all involved.
