Gingrich and food stamps

Two informative articles addressing welfare and food stamps in the context of Newt Gingrich's dubious comments about Obama being a "food-stamp president." The issue, of course, is getting people off of food stamps by implementing better fiscal policy, which right now includes spending money and tending to the unemployed - the opposite of the GOP's thinking on the matter.

As for the racist implications and characterizations, the (much) larger welfare program - the one going up, the one you don't see at the grocery store - is the one that should arouse objection.
